Dough: I no longer fear you.
I used to be really afraid of dough. I dreaded having to prepare anything that required making dough from scratch. The first year I lived in Russia I did not prepare anything at all that required so much extra work. As time has gone on I have realized that it is a necessity if we want to eat extra special things. This past year I have finally conquered my fear and can proudly say that I am becoming a dough master. I now look forward to making pizza crusts, danishes, pie shells, pastries, tortillas, etc. Yes, it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time........waiting isn't easy for me. I am not a patient woman and this is something the Lord continues to grow me in. Sometimes it can take 2 - 3 hours of your time just waiting for the dough to rise........ but the end results are delicious! I suppose it is much like life in general. It is the times where we have to wait patiently upon the Lord that cause us to grow and become more and more like Him. I am learning to wait upon Him quietly and patiently. Elisabeth Elliot says "Waiting silently is the hardest thing of all. But the things we feel most deeply about, we ought to learn to be silent about, at least until we have talked them over thoroughly with God".
